MESSAGES OF SUPPORT FROM AUSTRALIA

You describe a very dire and unacceptable situation.

I’ve forwarded your e-mail to our Branch President of the NTEU (the National Tertiary Education Union) with a request that our union takes “formal action to express strong public solidarity with our colleagues in Cyprus and with their fledgling union (perhaps through some of the links contained in the e-mail)?”

I’ve also suggested the NTEU issue a press release to make your situation known to the broader Australian public.

He’s just replied advising his support for such an action and it’s been pushed up to the sate (NSW) and possibly national union level for a response.

Once I know what the ‘official’ union response is I’ll see what further action we here as individuals can take in support of your fight.

It’s great that you have some community support from local business owners. I hope all goes well.
