KTOEOS STARTS VISITS TO SEEK SUPPORT FOR SACKED LAU STAFF

The Cyprus Turkish Secondary School Teachers’ Union-KTOEOS has launched a series of contacts with representatives of civil society organizations and political parties to seek support for proposals it prepared for academicians sacked from the Lefke European University.

As part of its contacts, a delegation from the KTOEOS paid visits to the main opposition National Unity Party, the Communal Democracy Party, the New Party Cyprus, KAMU-Sen, BES, KAMU-Is, EL-Sen, Vergi-Sen and the Cyprus Turkish Teachers Union-KTOS today.

Speaking during the visits, the President of the Secondary School Teachers’ Union Adnan Eraslan said that the sacking of 8 academic staff from the Lefke European University and forcing 9 others to unpaid leave of absence following an attempt to try to exercise their constitutional right of organizing under a trade union was absolutely unacceptable.

“The rector and the board of trustees are responsible for this” he said, calling on the government to take action on the issue.
